The Mariners will take on the Tigers in game one of their playoff series tonight in Seattle. All MLB odds can be found at Just Bet sportsbook.
The Detroit Tigers were everybody’s pick to make the playoffs out of the Central this season, but have gone off to an average start at best. They are just 4-6 in their last 10 games and sit 1.5 games in back of the division leaders at this point. Austin Jackson, Prince Fielder are all off to pretty good starts offensively for the Tigers as they are all hitting right around the .300 mark. The Tigers are hoping to get a boost from the return of Doug Fister tonight. Fister joins a staff with an average team ERA of 4.15 to this point as they look to turn the corner in the AL Central Division race.
The Mariners are actually playing well considering their expectations coming into the season and swept the Tigers the last time these teams met. They have won their last 2 games overall, but still sit six games in back of the Rangers who are off to a blistering start. Ichiro is hitting above .300 again this season and offseason acquisition Jesus Montero has been solid as sell. The Mariners staff has been solid as they have an ERA under 4.00 as a team.
Seattle is 5-1 in their last six games against the A.L. Central, 2-5 in their last seven home games, and 1-4 in Beavan’s last five starts as an underdog. Detroit is 5-1 in their last six Monday games, 4-8 in their last 12 games overall, and 10-1 in Fister’s last 11 starts. Seattle has won the last 14 meetings of these two.
We like the Tigers in this one even though they are a road favorite. We think Fister will carry them tonight with sportsbook betting.
