The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Chicago Cubs square off in a series from the desert on Friday. All up to date odds for this game can be found at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Diamondbacks are playing hard in hopes of mounting a second half run in order to get back in the NL West race. They are currently sitting 7.5 games in back of the division leaders and are an even 17-17 at home this season. Their bats have not been that great as a whole this season, but they have gotten solid contributions from their offense. One of those pitchers who has been pitching well as of late and all season is Joe Saunders. Saunders has let up 3 runs or fewer in his last three starts. For the season he is pitching to a 3.44 ERA in 81 innings pitched.
The Cubs are playing some pretty bad baseball and will look to right the ship starting tonight. They are a woeful 10-26 on the road this season which is a big reason why they are 14.5 games back in the division. They have had young players like Starlin Castro and Bryan LaHair show flashes of good play and will send the youngster Jeff Samardzjia to the hill tonight. He has won just 1 of his last 6 starts which is something he will look to improve upon tonight.
Arizona is 7-1 in their last eight home games, 2-6 in their last eight games against the N.L. Central, and 7-3 in Saunders’ last 10 starts as a favorite. Chicago is 8-17 in their last 25 games following an off day, 17-40 in their last 57 road games, and 0-4 in their last four games against the N.L. West. Chicago is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings of these two.
We do not really see why the Diamondbacks are as favored as they are in this one because Samardzjia has not been terrible this season. We actually like the Cubs in this one as a road underdog on the moneyline so before betting redeem sportsbook promo codes.
