The Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers will meet again tonight in Fenway Park as their series continues. These odds will be constantly updated at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Red Sox have been playing a lot better lately, but still sit in last place in the tightly packed AL East. The Red Sox took advantage of a couple breaks yesterday to upend the Tigers by a score of 7-4. Felix Doubront earned his fifth win of the season on Monday as he struck out 6 over 6 innings of work. Daniel Bard has won two of his last three starts and will take the hill tonight for the Sox. Bard has been up and down this season pitching to a 4.69 ERA on the year.
The Tigers have struggled this season at least in part to a pitching staff that has not really met expectations. Doug Fister took the loss yesterday for the Tigers after a couple of blatant blown calls did not go his or his teams way. Justin Verlander has been great again this season as the righty has only allowed 46 hits in 75 innings and currently has a microscopic 2.15 ERA in 75 innings pitched.
Boston is 12-5 in their last 17 games overall, 7-2 in their last nine home games, and 7-3 in their last 10 games against a right handed starter. Detroit is 4-1 in their last five games against a team with a losing record, 7-4 in their last 11 games against the A.L. East, and 10-1 in Verlander’s last 11 starts against a team with a losing record. Detroit is 16-38 in their last 54 games in Boston.
We like the under for total runs in this game primarily because we do not see Verlander letting up more than two runs at sportsbooks.
