The Houston Astros host the Cincinnati Reds at Minute Maid Park as their weekend series continues. All up to date odds for this matchup can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The Astros had a pretty good first quarter of the season, but their lack of depth in the roster has really started to show the last couple of weeks. The Astros were shut out on Friday night as their offense continues to struggle as of late. On Saturday the Astros will send their best pitcher to the mound to try and right the ship. Wandy Rodriguez has been impressive this season pitching to a 2.49 ERA in 72 innings of work. The lefty is coming off a no-decision in his last outing.
The Reds got a good pitching performance out of Mike Leake last night and got enough out of the offense for the win. The Reds have been playing pretty good ball lately as both elements of their game seem to be coming together nicely for Dusty Baker’s club. Mat Latos will start for the Reds today and the righty has been hot, winning his last 4 decisions. He has allowed 57 hits in 59 innings and has a 4.58 ERA overall this season.
Houston is 13-7 in their last 20 home games, 0-8 in their last eight games overall, and 1-4 in Rodriguez’s last five starts as a home underdog. Cincinnati is 4-1 in their last five games against a left handed starter, 11-3 in their last 14 games overall, and 5-2 in Latos’ last seven starts. Cincinnati has won six of the last seven meetings of these two.
Pretty good pitching matchup here tonight, but we think they might be giving these pitchers a little too low of a run totals line as a result. We like the over in this one as sportsbooks.
