The San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants start a weekend series tonight from Petco Park. All MLB odds can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The Padres have had some flashes of good play this season, but overall they are struggling once again. They are just 27-30 at home this season and sit 13.5 games back in their division. Tonight they will pitch Ross Ohlendorf who has won three of his last four starts. For the season Ohlendorf is pitching to a 6.41 ERA in just 46 innings of work.
The Giants on the other hand are in the thick of the playoff race entering this weekend. They are just 5-5 however in their last 10 games and they sit a half game out in the division. They are lead on offense by Buster Posey and on the mound by Matt Cain who will pitch tonight. For the season Cain has just allowed 132 hits in 159 innings of work.
San Diego is 4-0 in their last four home games, 10-4 in their last 14 games against the NL West, and 21-52 in their last 71 games against a team with a winning record. San Francisco is 5-1 in their last six games against the NL West, 5-2 in their last seven road games, and 2-8 in Cain’s last 10 starts as a road favorite. San Francisco is 8-3 in their last 11 games in San Diego.
There is huge value with the Padres here tonight and although we do not like picking against Cain we cannot ignore how live an underdog the Padres are. Take the Padres and the moneyline at sportsbooks.
