The San Antonio Spurs welcome the Utah Jazz to town tonight for Game 1 of their first round playoff series. All NBA odds can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The Utah Jazz come into the playoffs having had an up and down season, but in the end they did enough to right the ship in order to secure a playoff position. The Jazz are led by their offense and particularly Al Jefferson who has quietly, along with this teammates scored an average of 99.7 points per game which is good for fourth in the NBA. They are actually really good in another stat which is rebounding as they are 3rd in rebounds per game in the league. The problem for the Jazz all season has been their depth as they have struggled getting any support outside of the 5 guys who start the game.
On the flip side, the San Antonio Spurs have not only won 10 straight games heading into the playoffs, but finished the season overall with a tie for the best record in the league at 50-16. The Spurs this season have been led y point guard Tony Parker and their offense is averaging 103.7 points per game which you wouldn’t expect from a vintage Spurs team. They have Manu Ginobili healthy and Tim Duncan is playing better than he was last year at this time as the Spurs poise for what they hope is a deep playoff run. You will notice that the Spurs have more depth than in years past as well.
Yes, this spread is very high. We think however that the entire Spurs organization has a sour taste from last years playoff series vs. the Grizzlies and will make a statement tonight and cover this spread at best sports books.
