Dallas has been hot following a 3 game losing streak up with a three game winning streak. Their win streak has been fueled by a resurgent offense that has averaged 104 points per game during the streak.
The Mavericks have been steadily rising in the standings as well and now sit in the sixth spot in the western conference and are hot on the heels of the Clippers who own the fifth spot. They are a half a game behind the Clippers going into today.
The Mavericks are coming off of a victory against the Spurs on Saturday and were led by the outside shooting exploits of Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry. Nowtizki had a game high 27 points and Terry chipped in with 17 off the bench.
Jason Kidd also had an impressive game in posting a double-double for the Mavs while young upstart Rodrique Beaubois saw significant playing time as well. With Delonte West out with an injury, look for Beaubois to continue to see considerable minutes.
Denver on the other hand will likely have new acquisition JaVale McGee available tonight. The Nuggets acquired McGee from the Wizards for Nene. This gives Denver a formidable young backcourt that now features McGee and rookie Kenneth Faried.
Faried has some on strong of late in having a double-double in 4 of his last 10 games while average 11 points and 9 rebounds in that span. In the Nuggets last game, a win vs. the Celtics, Faried tallied 18 points and 16 boards and went a perfect from the free throw line shooting 8 for 8.
Danilo Gallinari was also big for the Celtics scoring a team high 20 points vs. the Celtics as well.
Even though they were essentially a man down after the trade Denver dominated the Celtics on the boards and also outscored them in the paint 48-40 and in the paint by a margin of 21-6.
In the last meeting between these teams the Mavs defeated the Nuggets 102-84 back on February 15th. Dallas had six players in double figures led by Shawn Marion with 16 points. Gallinari did not play for the Nuggets in that game, but will be back in the lineup tonight. Dallas’ defense was great as well holding the Nuggets to just 35% shooting from the field and just 6 of 27 from the land of three.
Dallas has had no problems scoring points on the Nuggets this season and vice versa. Both teams are also averaging more than 100 points per game as of late. This game will likely come down to whose defense can step up and challenge the other squads high octane offense. Denver is giving up a startling 101.2 points per game in their last 10.
Shawn Marion sat out against the Spurs on Saturday with a knee injury and is questionable for the game tonight. With the Mavericks and Nuggets so close to each other in the playoff race we would not be surprised to see Marion give it a go tonight even if he is in a little pain.
Dallas comes into tonight with the Over being 5-0 in their last 5 games. Dallas is also 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 played on Monday.
Denver is a less than impressive 4-12 ATS in their last 16 home games. The Nuggets are 8-2 ATS following a loss in their last 10.
Head to head the Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in the teams’ last 5 meetings in Denver. The over is the pick and before you bet check the best online sports book review.
