The Atlanta Hawks blew a golden opportunity after they lost game 2 at home despite the Celtics being without Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo. The series now moves to Boston for game 3 and Rondo will return. All NBA odds can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
Many people though the Hawks would cruise in game two, but that would simply not be the case as the Celtics capitalized on a poor Atlanta shooting night and were led by Paul Pierce. Pierce scored a game-high 36 points, including getting out to a fast start with 13 points in the first quarter. The Hawks actually had an 11 point lead late in the 3rd quarter, but watched that lead fade away as the Celtics outscored them 25-7 in the final quarter of play en route to the win. With both Rondo and Allen out for Game 2, it gave Atlanta an opportunity to get an easy win. However, Atlanta would struggle shooting from the field and could not contain Paul Pierce.
Of note also is that the Hawks lost Josh Smith with about 4 minutes to go in game 2. To that point in the game he actually had 16 points and 12 rebounds and was playing well. A big storyline in game 3 will be how they replace his production.
It is pretty clear that with Pierce’s inspirational performance in game 2 and with the fact that they are heading home, the Celtics have all of the momentum. Couple that with the fact that the Hawks are without Smith and Al Horford, it will be hard for them to compete tonight with the team they will send out there.
The Over is 4-0 in the Hawks last four Friday games. The Hawks are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games. The Over is 5-0 in the Hawks last five games following an ATS loss. The Celtics are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5. The Under is 4-0 the Celtics last four overall. The Under is 6-1 in the Celtics last seven games as a favorite.
While the Celtics with the points may not be a bad option here, we actually like the under better because of all of the quality scorers that will be missing for both teams tonight with your sportsbook betting.
