The Syracuse Orange won the Big East’s regular season crown in very impressive fashion this season, but had many doubters coming into the tournament when center Fab Melo was suspended for the duration of the tournament for academic issues. Syracuse struggled with 16 seed UNC-Asheville winning by just 7 points and in their second game largely due to an impressive 2nd half they up ended the Kansas St. Wildcats by a 16 point margin. Syracuse is 5-1 in neutral court games and 5-0 vs. the top 25 teams which is not surprising considering they only has 2 losses all season. In the game vs. Kansas St. Dion Waiters led the Orange with 18 points, Scoop Jardine had 16, and James Southerland and Kris Joseph pitched in with 15 and 11 respectively to lead a very well-balanced Orange attack. While the loss of Melo will hurt them eventually, they did not face a team in the first two rounds who can give them fits inside and exploit what is thought to be a weakness with him out.
The Wisconsin Badgers join three other Big Ten teams in the Sweet 16. Wisconsin took apart Montana in the first round by 24 points and then held on to win a 3-point decision vs. a tough Vanderbilt squad in the next round which was one of the best games of the tournament so far. Wisconsin is 5-1 in neutral site games and 5-7 vs. the top 25 thus far this season. In the game vs. Vandy Jordan Taylor led the Badgers with 24 points. Jared Berggen added 12, Ryan Evans had 11 and Ben Brust also added 11. Wisconsin will try and slow the game down at all costs which is why playing against that Syracuse zone will not be an inconvenience at all for Bo Ryan’s club.
Syracuse is 11-5 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games. They are though just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 overall. Wisconsin is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games and an impressive 16-5 ATS in their last 21 non-conference games overall. Bet Syracuse and research online sportsbook reviews.
