The current wagering odds from this week five affair have the home side Atlanta Falcons favored by -10 points with an over under line set at 44 points. Those who wager on Atlanta on the money line will lay -485 odd with the take back on the road underdog New York Jets at +425 odds.

New York has a record of 2-2 on the season while the Falcons sit at a disappointing 1-3 after a Sunday Night Football defeat last week to the New England Patriots. Atlanta has not been a sharp team this season and is probably could sure use their bye week that comes up after this game with the New York Jets. The Falcons offense has sputtered as they have shown ability moving the football inside the 20 yard line but struggle once they get inside the red zone. They are not running effectively since Steven Jackson has been sidelined with a hamstring problem. Wide receiver Roddy White is no 100% and it impacts his ability to cut and create space between him and the defender. The Atlanta Falcons lack a good pass rush and in a loud Georgia Dome last Sunday they fail to register a single sack of Tom Brady last week. An issue that has seemed to have gone unfixed throughout the years has been the play of the Atlanta secondary. In 2013 the team is allowing 301 yards passing per game ranking 328th and ranking fifth worst in the league. Part of that ranking is Atlanta’s inability to bring pressure on the quarterback. When you don’t pressure mobile quarterbacks you can get in trouble. Geno Smith has shown to have a strong arm and ability to create plays with his feet. With Atlanta’s lack of pass rush Smith should have enough time to find open receivers downfield and make enough big plays to cover this somewhat inflated point spread based on Atlanta’s reputation of previous seasons.
