In a huge showdown foreshadowing a potential playoff matchup in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks travel to Boston for an incredibly important game. View NBA odds at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
New York (42-26) has been less than stellar in the last 15 games or so but have been on fire lately. The Knicks are just 5-5 in their last 10 games but have impressively won four games in a row. Two games have come on the road and the other two at home. The two road wins came at Utah and at Toronto and they won at home against the struggling Magic and the Toronto Raptors again. The Knicks aren’t a great road team but are one of only four total teams in the Eastern Conference that have a winning record on the road. There are just eight teams in the NBA with a winning road record.
The Celtics (36-33) are seventh in the East but are pretty safe when it comes to making the playoffs because the ninth place Philadelphia 76ers sit nine and a half games behind Boston. The Celtics definitely do not want to finish in eighth because the Heat are absolutely unbeatable right now. On the other hand, the Boston is only four and a half games out of fourth place, which would obviously be more suitable. They have lost four in a row, though and six of their last 10.
New York is 35-31-2 against the spread this season and 16-16-2 ATS on the road. The Celtics are 32-34-3 against the spread but 19-13-2 ATS at home.
This is a tough game to pick. New York is streaking but isn’t great on the road and Boston is streaking in a bad way but it pretty darn good at home (24-10). The Garnett injury is huge so the New York Knicks covers at best sports books.
