The Philadelphia Phillies look to keep their postseason hopes alive with a win at the New York Mets tonight from New York. MLB odds are available at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
Philadelphia saw their slim postseason hopes get slimmer over the weekend that saw a struggling Houston take three of four to put the Phillies in virtually a must win situation each time out. The Phillies bounced back from a poor showing in Houston with a 3-1 victory over the Mets in the series opener behind another strong performance from Cliff Lee. Lee gave up a single run on seven hits and a free pass while striking out ten over eight innings of work. Left hander Cole Hamels takes the bump in game two of the series looking to continue his strong work on the mound. Hamels has posted eight consecutive quality starts with the team going 6-2 in this span.
The Mets season of promise has slowly eroded to fourth place in the National League East. The work on the mound has been okay but okay hasn’t been good enough the way the offense has struggled to put up runs. New York has dropped nine of ten following Monday’s 3-1 defeat and are possibly in danger of falling to last in the division. Rookie Matt Harvey makes his tenth and final start of 2012 with the Mets shutting him down. Harvey has generally been dependable, having allowed more than three runs only once this year.
Philly is a huge favorite especially since they are on the road where they have struggled. Give us the Phils though as a moneyline favorite behind Hamels at online sportsbook usa.
