The New York Mets travel to the west coast to take on the San Francisco Giants. Matt Harvey and Tim Lincecum are the scheduled starters. MLB odds are updated at Bovada sportsbook.
Harvey has been nothing short of spectacular so far this season with a perfect 7-2 record and stellar 2.27 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Ironically the Giants have hit Harvey hard this year. In two starts against them, including his most recent one, Harvey pitched 10 1/3 innings giving up 17 hits, four walks and five earned runs. In his last three starts Harvey has a 4.71 ERA, two of those coming on the road. Harvey has an overall ERA of 2.36 ERA on the road this season however with a 0.96 WHIP.
The Giants enter today’s ballgame in fourth place in the NL West, 6.5 games back of the Diamondbacks. Tim Lincecum enters the matchup with a 4-9 record and a solid 4.66 ERA and 1.44 whip. In his start against New York he went seven innings without giving up a run and earned the win striking out eight in the process. This was a nice recovery from his previous outing in Arizona where he only lasted 3 1/3 innings throwing 87 pitches and giving up four earned runs. The Giants still struggle to score though, ranking in the bottom third in the league. San Fran hasn’t won a road game since June 10th, losing ten straight during that stretch.
I believe the under in the correct pick here with these two offenses who have struggled immensely this year at the sportsbooks.
