The Mets and the Nationals open up a three game series in Washington on Tuesday. Get MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Mets (22-32) have completely hit a wall after they really took it to the Yankees in the series before. In all four games the Mets won, even with two games in Yankee Stadium. Many thought that series would kick the Mets up a gear, but they actually did the opposite. Since that Yankees series, the Mets are winless with a record of 0-3. They were swept by arguably the worst team in the Major Leagues, the Marlins in three games, without being anywhere close to winning. Jeremy Hafner will try to get the squad back on track on Tuesday. Hafner is just 1-5 on the year and the Mets have only won one game in Hafner’s 11 appearances. Not a good sign.
The Nationals (28-29) are now below .500 after losing four of their last five games. Washington has lost the majority of the games in their last two series. The Nationals have a stacked starting rotation but they have not lived up to expectations this season. The only one who has is Jordan Zimmerman. Zimmerman is 8-3 and will start on Tuesday. Obviously a huge edge for the Nationals against the Mets is pitching.
The Mets are just 20-34 against the spread and the Nationals are only 24-33.
I am not sure how the Mets beat the Yankees in four straight games but then go out and lose three in a row to the Marlins. Nationals win at www.sportsbookroom.com.
