Detroit comes into this game with a 1-0 lead after pulling out a thrilling 6-4 win in 12 innings yesterday. They will look to sure up a bullpen that blew a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the 9th Other than that however their starting pitching was solid and their bats got the job done when needed. In game two Detroit will start Anibal Sanchez who will try to vault the Tigers to a 2-0 series lead. In his only appearance versus the Yankees this season Sanchez struggled allowing seven runs in just three innings.
The Yankees offense continues to struggle mightily and outside of some great ninth-inning heroics it has so the entire postseason. That trend continued last night but this time the Yankees could not pull the game out in extra innings. They did also lose shortstop Derek Jeter for the postseason with a fractured ankle. The Yankees will look to rebound tonight behind the right arm of Hiroki Kuroda. This will be Kuroda’s third start versus the Tigers this season and in his two previous starts he has allowed five runs in 13 innings.
This is an absolute do or die game for the Yankees and we expect them to come out and respond. Give us the Yankees as a moneyline favorite at home at best sportsbooks online.
