The Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees meet today again in game two of their important series. All odds for all games can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The New York Yankees have been playing well lately when they need it the most. On Friday they were led on the mound by their ace CC Sabathia and by the bat of Russell Martin who delivered a 10th inning home run for the win. They will look to get another important win today when they send Ivan Nova to the hill. For the season Nova has given up 183 hits and 88 earned runs while striking out 147 over 163.1 innings of work for a 4.85 ERA.
The Athletics on the other hand look like a lock for the post season, but did not help themselves with the loss yesterday vs the Yankees. Jarrod Parker was solid on the mound, but he was outdueled by Sabathia who was brilliant. For tonight’s game Oakland starts Travis Blackley. For the season Blackley has allowed 78 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 63 over 93.2 innings of work.
New York is 6-0 in their last six games overall, 50-24 in their last 74 home games against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 in Nova’s last five home starts. Oakland is 13-4 in their last 17 road games, 7-4 in their last 11 games as a road underdog, and 5-1 in Blackley’s last six starts. Oakland is 4-16 in their last 20 games in New York.
This is going to be another great game, but we like the A’s to pull this one out and we will take them as moneyline favorites at the sports book.
