The New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays will meet on Friday night for Game 2 of a 4-game weekend series. Find MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The New York Yankees fell behind early on Thursday but battled back in a hurry to get the win. Robinson Cano, Vernon Wells, and Francisco Cervelli each hit home runs and Ichiro Suzuki had two hits as the Yankees scored five runs on nine hits in all. Starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda allowed six hits and three earned runs while striking out three over six innings to get the win and go to 3-1 on the season while Mariano Rivera struck out two to earn his seventh save. Ivan Nova gets the start tonight and looks to rebound from a rough start to the season.
The Blue Jays made a lot of moves this offseason and they will have to start paying dividends soon due to the fact that they already sit 6.5 games in back in the AL East. For Friday’s game Toronto starts Josh Johnson who looks nothing like the overpowering star we knew for the Marlins. For the season Johnson has allowed 28 hits and 15 earned runs while striking out 19 over 19.2 innings of work for a 0-1 record and a 6.86 ERA.
New York is 17-7 in their last 24 games against a team with a losing record, 6-2 in their last eight games as a home favorite, and 19-9 in Nova’s last 27 starts against the AL East. Toronto is 6-14 in their last 20 road games, 2-6 in their last eight games against the AL East.
In this matchup I like Josh Johnson over Nova and will take the Blue Jays on the money line at www.sportsbookroom.com.
