The Baltimore Orioles and the Oakland A’s will close out their series this afternoon from Oakland. All odds for this game can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
Baltimore needs to get back in the win column after a 5-2 loss to Oakland on Saturday has the Orioles looking at back to back defeats. It hurts the Birds drive to take over first in the American League East but the real concern is that this turns in to a slide of any length with the season winding down which could ultimately cost the O’s a postseason berth. Veteran left hander Randy Wolf makes his first start for Baltimore this afternoon since coming over from Milwaukee. Wolf has made three appearance out of the bull pen and needs to avoid the long ball that plagued him while with the Brewers.
It seems that whatever team takes the field with Oakland has their hands full and as of late ends up on the wrong side of the scoreboard. Baltimore has found that out the past two nights with consecutive defeats with the Athletics pitching and hitting being a tad better. Following Saturday’s 5-2 victory, the A’s have taken eight of ten behind another strong performance from both the bats and arms. Rookie Daniel Strailey makes his fifth start of 2012 this afternoon hoping to duplicate his success thus far with three quality starts thus far although he has given up a whopping six home runs with four coming in one game.
Both teams are playing well right now which is leading to competitive games. We like Oakland in the pitching department tonight so we will take them as moneyline favorites at home at best online sportsbooks.
