The Oakland Athletics make their way to the south side of Chicago Thursday evening for a matchup with the White Sox. This is their second series with each other in the past week. Review MLB odds at Top Bet sportsbook.
The White Sox are coming off a 7-5 grueling 16 inning victory against Seattle yesterday that took 5 hours and 42 minutes. It was the first game in major league history where each team scored five runs in extra innings when there was no score after 9 innings. The win stopped an eight game skid for the Sox and they will try to extend it today when they send Jose Quintana to the mound. He owns a 3-2 record and a 3.86 ERA, but the Athletics got ten hits and earned three walks against him in his last start in Oakland. He has just two quality starts in his last eight outings, and the Sox have won just five of his last seven starts.
Oakland will send out 24 year old rookie Dan Straily for his second straight start against Chicago. He received a no decision on June 1st in the A’s 4-3 victory at home, going six innings surrendering only one run and striking out eight. The right hander has given up two runs and only one walk in his last 19 innings pitched. Hitters have just a .225 average against Straily during that stretch. The team has won six of his last eight starts, three of them coming on the road. They won eight out of their last ten games as a whole, and are 7-3 in their last 10 road games.
