The Athletics are trying to use the Astros to continue to boost their latest surge in the past two weeks. MLB odds are displayed at Bovada sportsbook.
Oakland (26-23) has now won six of their last seven games with the only loss coming against the Texas Rangers. This is a good balance for earlier this month when they went 2-8 in a 10 game stretch. Oakland has been superb on the defensive side, keeping opponents under three runs during that five game winning streak. In the first game against Houston, the A’s came away with the win, 6-5. A.J. Griffin will try to make that two games in a row when he starts on the mound on Saturday for Oakland. Griffin is 4-3 with a 3.59 ERA in nine starts. The A’s are 6-3 when Griffin starts.
Houston (14-34) is in real trouble. They now sit 20 games below .500 and it is only May. They actually have not been terrible lately, winning two of their last four games, which is a huge improvement when compared to what they have done the rest of the year. The Astros will start Lucas Harrell, who is trying to break the streak on Saturday. Houston has lost the game in Harrell’s last four starts, and he received three losses. Harrell is 3-5 with a 4.63 ERA.
Oakland is 26-23 against the spread and the Astros are a surprising 24-24 ATS.
Houston has not been bad lately but Oakland has been too good. I do think that the Astros will take one game from Oakland but it won’t be on Saturday at www.sportsbookroom.com.
