The streaking Athletics look to continue their hot stretch in the second game of the series against the Angels in Los Angeles. Get MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Oakland A’s (6-2) started off the year in a way they did not approve of and have quickly turned things around. They started 0-2 before going on their six game win streak that is still active. Both losses came against the Mariners before the A’s got one back against Seattle and then swept a road series in Houston against the Astros. In the first game of this three game series, the A’s defeated the Angels, 9-5. Jed Lowrie, the A’s shortstop is batting .433 after eight games and has led the A’s at the plate. A.J. Griffin will get the start for Oakland in the second game of the series. Griffin won his first start and his now 8-1 in his career.
The Angels (2-5) are struggling with their new, stacked lineup. They have lost two out of three to the Reds and the Rangers and have now lost their first game to Oakland. The Angels have lost four games by two runs or less and yes, their schedule has been pretty tough to start the year but the heart of their lineup includes the likes of Albert Pujols, Josh Hamilton and Mike Trout. Both Pujols and Hamilton are both hitting under .250 and Trout is batting .281 with seven games into the year. Jason Vargas will start for LA on Thursday after he received a no decision in his first start.
Oakland is 6-2 against the spread and the Angels are 5-2.
I think the Athletics keep their streak going while the Angels continue their struggles. Griffin has been wonderful on the mound and I think he continues it with another solid performance at the sportsbooks.
