The #3 Oregon Ducks (9-0) make their second trip in a row to California, to take on the Bears (3-7) Saturday at 10:30 ET. College Football odds are located at Bovada sportsbook.
The Ducks may be the fastest team ever assembled, at any level. Their defense is suspect, but when your offense has scored more than 40 points in each of your games this year, you can cut them some slack. Besides, it has shown up when they needed them to, pitching a shutout against Arizona’s spread attack. The only game they seemed legitimately challenged in was against USC, but that could have been because of deflated balls, or switched jerseys, or whatever else Kiffin was up to. Even large odds, can’t seem to stop them, as they are 6-4 ATS, but are on a 5-1 ATS run, with their only loss being a 51-26 win over Washington State, when they didn’t cover a 30 point spread.
California is not having the same success as the Ducks. They have lost three in a row, two of them at home. They are 3-7 SU and ATS this year. They have been underdogs six of their last eight, and their offensive and defensive performances have been erratic. They have failed to score more than 20 points in four of their seven contests, which doesn’t bode well for their showdown with Oregon.
Oregon is favored by 28 ½ points. After a slow start against the spread, Oregon has woken up. They have laid more than 20 points on seven times this year, going 3-4 ATS in those games, but 3-1 in the past four. It seems unlikely that the Bears would be able to score close to 20, and it would be logical to think they would need to in order to pull off a back door cover since Oregon figures to be in the 50’s Saturday. Take the Ducks – 28 ½ at the sportsbooks.
