The Phillies and the Marlins meet for another game of their series from Philly. All odds for MLB games can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The Philadelphia Phillies have had a season to forget but they are hoping to at least finish strong and build on it for next year. On Tuesday Jimmy Rollins had two hits including a home run and Juan Pierre and Chase Utley had three hits each as the Phillies scored nine runs on 15 hits. On the mound Roy Halladay allowed seven hits and five earned runs while striking out six over 6.1 innings of work to go to 10-7 on the year. For Wednesday’s game Philadelphia starts Cliff Lee who has won his last two decisions. For the season Lee has allowed 176 hits and 68 earned runs while striking out 168 over 175 innings of work for a 3.50 ERA.
The Miami Marlins are closing out a miserable year as many of the payers are just auditioning for jobs next year. On the mound on Tuesday Nathan Eovaldi allowed eight hits and five earned runs while striking out three over four innings to fall to 4-12 on the year. For Wednesday’s game Miami starts Josh Johnson who won last time out to end a personal four decision losing streak.
Philadelphia is 6-0 in their last six games overall, 5-1 in their last six games against the NL East, and 8-3 in Lee’s last 11 home starts against a team with a losing record. Miami is 2-7 in their last nine games against the NL East, 0-5 in their last five games against a left handed starter, and 1-5 in Johnson’s last six starts. Miami is 5-15 in their last 20 games in Philadelphia.
Cliff Lee has had a tough season this year and we like the Marlins as a value play here as moneyline underdogs but first check sports odds.
