The Phillies will open their season up with a three game series in Atlanta before coming home for six straight, against the Royals and Mets. The Phillies have been the kings of the NL East for the last couple of seasons, including five straight NL East titles, and they made two straight World Series, and have both one title and a loss. Pitching has been their real specialty with names like Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels and Cliff Lee. Hamels will take the start on Opening Day, who has been tremendous the last couple of seasons and is signed with Philadelphia until 2018 and has an option until 2019.
Before the Phillies took over their dominance of the NL East, the Braves were always the leaders of the group. The Braves won 10 straight division titles spanning from 1996 to 2005. However, since then the Braves have not touched the crown. The Mets won in 2006, then the Phillies won five in a row, and the Washington Nationals took the division last year. Tim Hudson will lead the Braves on Opening Day.
Neither team has played a game yet, so there are not any stats when it comes to playing against the spread.
