Dillion Gee gets the call tonight; he comes in with a 5-7 record, 4.56 ERA and 1.44 WHIP. Gee has won three out of his last four decisions, however lost his last matchup in Atlanta against the Braves. He tossed 8 1/3 innings while giving up five hits and two earned runs while striking out six in the process. Over his last three road starts he has surrendered 18 hits and four earned runs while getting the victory in three of those matchups. The Mets have won five of their last ten and are 14-28 on the road this season.
The Phillies come in 7.5 games behind in the NL East and are currently in third place, five games in front of these Mets. They send Jonathon Pettibone to the mound tonight who comes in with a 3-3 record, 4.40 ERA and 1.52 WHIP. Pettibone has lost his last three decisions, including getting shelled in his last two starts. In Colorado and in Milwaukee, he pitched a combined 8 1/3 innings giving up 14 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out five in the process. Two of his three wins have come at Citizen Bank Park this year.
