The Phillies (23-24) have gotten themselves back near .500 after being five games below at one point during the year. They have been switching off between wins and losses in the last eight games or so but the wins do outnumber losses. Philadelphia is 7-3 in their last 10 games and they are coming off two straight wins against the Marlins in Miami. The Phillies were beat up in the first game of the series but then were able to outscore Miami 10-3 in the final two games. Philadelphia sits five and a half games out of the division leader Atlanta but just a game behind Washington. Kyle Kendrick will start on Friday against the Nationals. Kendrick is 4-2 with a 2.82 ERA in nine starts.

Washington (24-23) have struggled lately and now are only a game ahead of the Phillies. The Nationals were five games above .500 before going just 4-8 in their last 12 games. That stretch included a four game losing streak in which the Nationals were unable to score more than four runs. Jordan Zimmerman is looking to get them back on track and improve his 7-2 record.

The Phillies have a 26-21 record against the spread. The Nationals are a poor 20-27 ATS.

This game could go either way with the pitchers that are going to be throwing on Friday. I am going to go with the Phillies though. Kendrick has been solid, they have been hitting lately and the Nationals definitely have not been winning games at online sportsbooks.
