The Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals will meet on Monday or start of a big series for both teams. All MLB odds and trends can be found at Top Bet sportsbook.
The Pirates have struggled recently, but are not out of the postseason picture by any means. They are 4-6 in their last 10 games and sit two games out in the National League wild-card standings. Andrew McCutchen has led the Pirates all season and is hitting .343 and their pitching staff has been a lot better than expected as well. Included in that is the resurgence is AJ Burnett who will pitch tonight. For this season Burnett has allowed 141 hits in 151 innings of work.
As we have come to know in recent years the Cardinals are traditionally fast closers and are doing the same this season. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games and are currently holding the second wild-card spot. They will start Kyle Lohse tonight who is having a monster season. Lohse is pitching to a 2.61 ERA in 169 innings of work.
Pittsburgh is 3-8 in their last 11 home games, 1-5 in their last six games overall, and 8-1 in Burnett’s last 11 games as an underdog. St. Louis is 5-1 in their last six games overall, 2-6 in their last eight road games against a right handed starter, and 8-3 in Lohse’s last 11 starts. St. Louis has won four of their last five games in Pittsburgh.
All things considered this is a pretty even matchup. We will take the home underdog and Pittsburgh since that is the case but check the sports odds.
