The Pirates head to Los Angeles to take on the Angels today for the final game of their series. Joe Blanton and Charlie Morton are the scheduled starters. Check the latest MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
Los Angeles enters currently in third place in the NL West. They turn to Blanton tonight who enters with a horrendous record of 1-10 to with a, 5.62 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. In his last start against Seattle he, threw 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two earned runs. He has received losses in seven of his last eight games and his team has lost nine of his last ten starts. In his last two home starts he has given up 11 earned runs. The Angels are 20-21 overall at home.
The Pirates send Charlie Morton to the hill tonight. He has two starts under his belt this year where he lasted just 10 1/3 innings giving up ten hits and two earned runs against the San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds. He was activated from the disabled list last Thursday almost a year after he underwent Tommy John surgery. During his three rehab starts, the Pirates said he look “ok” but that is expected from somebody who just underwent that major of a surgery. The Pirates have won six of their last ten and are 16-16 on the road this season.
I’ll side with the Pirates in this matchup. I will never ever trust anyone who is 1-10 and the way the Angels offense has been struggling, this is the safe pick at best sports books.
