The Pirates and the Mets square off for the first game of four in New York. Find MLB odds at Top Bet sportsbook.
Pittsburgh (18-15) has been hovering around .500 for much of this season and currently sit three games above the marker. They have stuck with that in the last couple weeks, putting up a 4-4 record in their last eight games. The Pirates are coming off a two game series with the Seattle Mariners in Pittsburgh and each team won a game. This will be the first meeting between these two teams this season. Starling Marte is having a terrific start to this season, hitting .331 with 43 total hits, both team leaders. Marte has five home runs and 16 RBI’s to along with that. Andrew McCutchen leads the team in runs batted in with 19 and also is hitting .275. Jeff Locke will pitch for the Pirates on Thursday. Locke is 3-1 in six starts with an ERA of 3.21.
The Mets (13-17) have been flirting with .500 as well and are 3-2 in their last five games with wins over the Marlins, Braves and White Sox but went through a rough stretch just before that. New York lost six games in a row to the Dodgers, Phillies and Marlins. The Phillies swept the Mets in a three game series.
The Pirates are 20-13 against the spread and the Mets are 13-17 ATS.
I will pick the Pirates because it seems like they can only win games when Matt Harvey is on the mound, and he is not on Thursday so to take Pittsburgh Click Here.
