The Pirates and Athletics open their four game series tonight in Pittsburgh. Tommy Milone and Francisco Liriano are the scheduled starters. Check the MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Pirates enter a half a game back of the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central. They turn to Liriano tonight who has had a great year with his 8-3 record, 2.20 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. In his last start against Chicago he, threw 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two earned runs. He has received wins in his last three appearances, two of them coming on the road. In his last two home starts he has given up 4 earned runs. The Pirates are 20-21 overall at home and have a three game losing streak coming into tonight’s’ game.
The A’s send Tommy Milone to the hill tonight. In his last two starts he lasted just 10 1/3 innings giving up ten hits and two earned runs against the San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds. He was activated from the disabled list last Thursday almost a year after he underwent Tommy John surgery. During his three rehab starts, the A’s said he look “ok” but that is expected from somebody who just underwent that major of a surgery. The A’s have won six of their last ten and are 16-16 at home this season. They are currently on a two game winning streak.
I will side with the over in this matchup with both of these teams able to hit the ball well. Although these pitchers have been better then expected, not much of their success has come against teams above .500 at www.sportsbookroom.com.
