The Boston Celtics travel to Phillips arena for a matchup with the Atlanta Hawks, the first matchup on the season for the two clubs. Get the odds from the NBA at Bovada Sportsbook.
The Hawks who are banged up right now have showed life as of late as they have won their last two games to push their record to 26-19. Putting the injuries aside the Hawks defeated the Cleveland Cavs 103-87 on Sunday night at home in Atlanta. Joe Johnson was the star for the Hawks scoring a game high 28 points on 11-16 shooting from the field.
The Celtics on the other hand are in the middle of their longest road trip of the season and have lost their last two in blown out fashion. Boston is 7-13 away from home this season and their last two losses on the road have come to the hands of the Sacramento Kings and Denver Nuggets. In their last game they showed some heart against Denver, but eventually ran out of gas in the loss.
Head to head the C’s are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 games overall and an even worse 2-7 ATS in the last 9 played at Atlanta. The home team is 13-5 ATS overall in the last 18 games played between the two. The Hawks are an impressive 19-7 ATS in their last 26 on the second nights of back to backs and are 8-2 ATS overall in their last 10. The Celtics however are 3-11 ATS when playing on the road vs. teams with a higher than .600 winning percentage and 2-11 ATS overall in their last 13 games away from home.
The Hawks will be short-handed tonight, but we still like their chances against a Boston team they have beaten in 5 of the last 7. With how bad the Celtics have been on the road lately it is just flat out to hard to ignore. The numbers as we outlined are just staggering. Atlanta will continue their stellar play in back to backs and we like them tonight especially since they are not giving that many points in a home game. This will be a close one, but it is hard to ignore the Hawks for the reasons we mentioned so bet Atlanta at the best sports books.
