With Woodson at the helm the Knicks defensive play has been noticeably better. The Knicks are riding a 4 game winning streak which has seen the Knicks only let up 88.5 points per game. That is a marked improvement considering they are giving up 95.8 point per game on the season thus far.
The offense is on a roll lately as well for the Knicks as the team has scored over 100 points in all 4 games since the Woodson-era started. They are averaging 111 points in the 4 game span.
Lin was thought to maybe suffer with the new coaching staff, but that has not been the case. Lin’s minutes have stayed the same and he is still averaging 14 points per game and nearly 7 assists as well.
The Knicks are coming off of a win on Tuesday vs. the Raptors and were led by Amar’e Stoudemire’s 22 points. Jeremy Lin had 18 points and 10 assists and Carmelo Anthony chipped in with 17.
The Sixers on the other hand are coming off of a game where they snapped a 3-game losing streak in Charlotte by beating the Bobcats 105-80. Philly was led by the tandem of Jrue Holiday and Thaddeus Young who each scored 20 points. Lou Williams had a solid game as well finishing with 19 points.
These two teams have split their previous two meetings with both of them being played at Madison Square Garden. New York won the first matchup and Philly prevailed in their most recent game on March 11.
The game will feature many good matchups including the young point guard matchup between Lin and Holiday. In his last two games he has been impressive also totaling 37 points and 16 assists.
Carmelo Anthony has good career number vs. the Sixers averaging nearly 27 points and 10 rebounds per game. Although the Knicks have been winning since Woodson took the helm, Anthony’s numbers are down to the tune of 15 points and 5 rebounds per game.
