The Padres and the Mariners will square off for the second time in Seattle during Interleague Rivalry Week. Find MLB odds at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
San Diego (22-28) started the season 2-10 but has now gotten them in to a lot better position. They have been .500 since that mark, which is not terrible. In the first game of this series against the Mariners, the Padres failed to score a run while giving up nine of them. The Padres were struck out more times than they recorded a hit as they only managed four hits spread out between four people. Clayton Richard was the starter for San Diego and gave up five runs in six innings. Richard is now 0-5 on the year and continues to struggle. Edinson Volquez will start on Tuesday and looks to get back on track after losing his last two starts. He is now 3-5 on the year.
Seattle (22-29) lost eight games in a row when they were 20-21 to drop a bunch of games under .500. However, since then, the Mariners have won their last two games against the Rangers and the Padres. Aaron Harang got the complete game shut out and only gave up four hits to improve his record to 2-5. Maybe this game will kick start Harang after a slow start to the season.
San Diego is 28-22 against the spread and the Mariners are just 22-29.
These two teams have both struggled, but one team will have to win. I am picking the Mariners, they have won their last two, including a win in the first game against the Padres at sports books.
