The Giants and the Cardinals meet tonight for game 5 of their series with the Giants facing elimination. Bet MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
San Francisco ran in to a buzz saw named St Louis Thursday in an 8-3 defeat that has the Giants on the brink of elimination. The Giants trail the Cardinals 3-1 in the NLCS heading in to Friday’s game five. The bats and arms haven’t been getting the job done and sending out Tim Lincecum for game four was probably a move the team would like to take back Veteran left hander Barry Zito gets the nod on the mound in game five. Zito faced the Cardinals once this season and gave up a pair of runs on eight hits without a walk over 6.2 innings of work of a 4-2 victory.
The Cardinals are on the verge of doing the highly unlikely; heading to the World Series as the Wild Card representative for the second consecutive season. First things first, game five still awaits and San Francisco is fully capable of winning three in a row so this series is no where close to being over. However, if the Redbirds get the pitching and hitting they received in Thursday’s 8-3 victory, their chance are better than average. Lance Lynn is scheduled to start game five for the Cardinals. Lynn has faced San Francisco twice this year and hasn’t fared well with eight earned runs given up on 13 hits and five bases on balls through 9.2 frames.
There is something about the Cardinals and the postseason and it seems foolish to not believe in them now. Give us St. Louis as moneyline favorites to end the series at the best online sportsbooks.
