The San Francisco Giants head to the desert for the first of a three game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Matt Cain and Patrick Corbin are the probable starters respectively. Find MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Giants look to gain some ground on the first place D’backs, sitting just two and a half games back in the NL West after Arizona’s 12-8 loss in St. Louis yesterday. This is Cain’s third start against his division rival this season, the first two he received no decisions. Cain pitched back-to-back on April 23rd and 29th against Arizona producing almost identical numbers. He went six innings giving up five hits and four runs and struck out six in both matchups, however he surrendered three home runs in their 6-4 win the 29th. Excluding his last start, he has been great lately winning four of his last five decisions. The Giants are 2-9 in their last four series on the road, giving up double digit runs in four of those ten games.
The Diamondbacks have raised a few eyebrows this year, specifically Patrick Corbin. He enters with a perfect 9-0 record to go with a 2.06 ERA and has earned a win in his last seven starts. His last two have been a bit shaky giving up four runs in each but has received plenty of run support. He gets the job done quickly only going above 100 pitches three times this season. The Diamondbacks have won seven of their last ten, and four of their last five home games. This is their first game in Chase Field since a 5-4 victory against Texas back on May 27th.
It’s hard to go against the hot pitcher and a first place team returning home. I’ll side with the trends and take Arizona with decent value at -125 at www.sportsbookroom.com.
