The Seattle Mariners and the Kansas City Royals will meet for the beginning of their series on Monday. All MLB odds can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The Royals started the season with some pretty big expectations but have definitely fell short of reaching them. They are just 15 – 25 at home this season and are now 10.5 games in back of the White Sox for the division lead. For the beginning of the series versus the Mariners, Kansas City will start Johnathan Sanchez who has not adjusted well to the American League to say the least. Sanchez is pitching to a 6.75 ERA and 52 innings of work this season.
The Mariners on the other hand have played very hard this season, but do not have the talent to really compete. They are in last place in the very competitive American League West and sit 17.5 games in back of the division leader. The Mariners will start Jason Vargas who has been sharp in his last two games, but has a no decision in each. In 126 innings of work Vargas is pitching to a 4.07 ERA.
Kansas City is 4-2 in their last six home games, 1-5 in their last six games against a left handed starter, and 0-4 in Sanchez’s last four starts. Seattle is 2-5 in their last seven road games, 1-4 in their last five games against the A.L. Central, and 1-4 in Vargas’ last four starts as an underdog. Seattle is 5-11 in their last 16 games in Kansas City.
Although the Royals have been playing somewhat better since their bad start, Sanchez has been absolutely terrible all season. We like Seattle as a very slight moneyline favorite this game sports books.
