The Los Angeles Angels and the Seattle Mariners face-off from Safeco Field tonight. All odds for this important series can be found at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The Angels are making a big push towards the playoffs, but barring a miracle it looks as though those chances are slim at this point. Looking back on it, it looks as though an inconsistent first half of the season will eventually doom their playoff hopes. The final nail for them may have been yesterday when they lost the back end of a doubleheader 8-7 to the Rangers in what was a heartbreaking loss. Pitching tonight in the opener of the series for the Angels will be CJ Wilson. He has been average over his last 10 starts with just three of them being of the quality variety.
As of a couple weeks ago the Mariners were having a great second half of the season and even saw their record spike near the .500 mark. Those days have faded away though and they are most recently coming off a 5-2 loss to the A’s. Tonight Seattle will pitch Felix Fernandez who will make his last start of 2012. Hernandez has had another great season, but will be looking to end the season strong after going five starts without a win.
While CJ Wilson is certainly a capable pitcher and the Angels still technically have something to play for we were actually expecting Seattle to be more of a favorite with King Felix on the mound. Because of this we will take Seattle has a slight moneyline favorite at home but first check sports odds.
