The Seattle Mariners welcome the New York Yankees to town for the third of a four game set. It’s a battle of lefties as Andy Pettitte takes the mound for the Yanks and Joe Saunders for the Mariners. Check MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Yankees currently stand two games behind the Red Sox in the AL East. This will be Pettitte’s second start since returning from the disabled list. On Monday against Cleveland he only last 4 2/3 innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits and three walks. That bumped his ERA up to 4.17 or the season and his WHIP to 1.37. After starting the season with three victories in his first three starts,
Pettitte’s record stands at 4-3 and has not won since May 11th in Kansas City. New York has split their last ten, but lost four out their last five road games.
Joe Saunders carries a 4-5 record and an eye-popping 5.20 ERA and 1.48 WHIP into tonight’s matchup. He did earn the victory in his last start in Chicago however, going 6 1/3 surrendering five hits and one earned run while striking out five. He seems to buckle down at home though as all four of Saunders’ victories have come at Safeco Field. Seattle currently sits 11 games back of the first place Rangers and look to stay above .500 at home this season. Kyle Seager continues to hit the ball well for the Mariners, scoring ten runs in his last seven games hitting in the three hole.
The first two games of this series have been low scoring and I see more of the same with two left handed pitchers on the mound. Under eight runs is the correct play here at the sportsbook.
