The Seattle Mariners take on the Texas Rangers tonight in the ballpark in Arlington. Hisashi Iwakuma will go for the Mariners and Martin Perez gets the start for the Rangers. Check for updated MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
The Mariners enter in fourth place in the AL West, a healthy 12.5 games behind Oakland for first. They have won four of their last ten and bring a 21-22 road record into tonight’s game. Iwakuma has been a bright spot for them this year with a 7-3 record, 2.42 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. Hitters are hitting just .203 against the rookie this season in 17 starts. His last outing against the Cubs he tossed eight innings giving up six hits and four earned runs while striking out five. On the road this season, his ERA is a little high at 3.14 through 51 2/3 innings, but nothing to really concern anybody.
Texas is currently in second place in the AL West, just a half game back of the Athletics. They have won seven of their last ten and are 24-17 at home this season. Perez has just three starts under his belt this season and has a 2-1 record, 2.37 Era and 1.26 WHIP to show for it. In his last appearance against the Reds, he lasted 6 2/3 innings, giving up six hits and no earned runs. The young Ranger will be making his second home start of the season.
Both of these pitchers are solid and Iwakuma has his hands full tonight. I will go with the under in this game as both pitchers have proven their worthy at best sportsbooks online.
