In the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, SMU (6-6) takes on Fresno State (9-3) Monday at 8:00ET. College football odds are found at Bovada sportsbook.
SMU became bowl eligible with a win in the last week of the year to Tulsa, bringing their season total to 6-6 SU and 7-5 ATS. They have split their last four games of the year, winning both at home, and losing both on the road. SMU has had a hard time getting any streaks going either straight up or against the spread. They are led by Garrett Gilbert, a transfer from Texas, who has been up and down this season passing for 14 TD’s and 13 INT’s along with 7 rushing touchdowns. Also of note is the fact that June Jones will be heading back to Hawaii where he coached at the University of Hawaii for several seasons.
Fresno St is riding a five game win streak both straight up and against the spread. For the year, they are 9-3 SU and 11-1 ATS. Their only loss against the spread was a 10 point loss at Boise in mid-October. That was also their only loss in the past eight games. Since their loss to Boise St, they have averaged 47.2 points per game over that five game span. The Bulldogs are led by a top 20 defense and QB Brandon Carr who is the offensive player of the year in the Mountain West. Carr has passed for 36 TD’s and just 5 INT’s this season.
