South Florida vs. Seton Hall College Basketball Handicapper Pick

Conference tournaments are the last chance for teams to punch their tickets to the big dance. The Big East, arguably the toughest and deepest conference in the country, kicks off its tournament with 12-seed Seton Hall playing 13-seed South Florida at Madison Square Garden. Seton Hall (14-17) struggled throughout the Big East schedule this season going just 3-15. The Pirates finished the year losing 15 of their last 17 games with one win coming in dramatic fashion against Villanova thanks to a game-winner from Fuquan Edwin, their leading scorer. Edwin averaged about 17 points per game on the season and was second on the team in rebounding with about six per game. The only other win in the past 17 games came against their first-round opponent in this years Tournament, South Florida, 55-47.

South Florida (12-18) also won just three games throughout Big East play. USF finished the year strong, however, by winning two of their last three games; both at home against DePaul and UCONN. South Florida’s other win in the Big East came at home to Georgetown 61-58, who is currently in contention for a top seed in the NCAA Tournament and is already the top seed in the Big East. The Bulls pushed both Cincinnati and UCONN to overtime on the road.

Seton Hall finished the season 10-13-1 overall against the spread. Coming off a loss, Seton Hall is 6-9 ATS and in the Big East, the Pirates are 7-11 ATS. South Florida is 11-18 against the spread for the season and is just 6-11 ATS coming off a loss. Against Big East opponents, the Bulls were just 6-12 ATS.
