In what could have been a preview of the NBA Finals the Heat were routed by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night when they got behind early and lost 103-87 in Oklahoma City. The Thunder broke the game open with a 35-25 second quarter and never looked back. On the other hand, Indiana is coming off of a win on Saturday night vs. the Bucks as they won 125-104. What made the win more impressive was the fact that the game was their third game in as many nights.
The Heat have won all three meeting vs. the Pacers this season thus far with the last win coming in overtime. In their most recent win in Miami the Pacers gave the Heat all they could handle. Miami faced a big deficit, but battled back to force overtime. In the overtime session the Heat would outlast the Pacers 93-91, thanks in large part to LeBron James and Dwayne Wade who combined for 55 points in the win.
Head to head to Heat are an impressive 7-3 in the last 10 ATS and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings at Indiana. The underdog is 23-9-1 in the last 33 ATS and the road team is 6-1 ATS in games played between the two as well. The Pacers are 3-8 ATS vs. teams with a winning record in their last 11 and a terrible 5-11 ATS in their last 16 home games. The Heat has rebounded well from wins and has gone 6-0 ATS following a loss of ore than 10 points. However they are just 3-7 in their last 10 while playing the second game of back to backs.
The Pacers would be a little more attractive here if the Heat weren’t coming off of such a disappointing loss. The Heat will be looking for a way to take their frustrations out and it may be as simple as Indiana catching them on a bad night. Look for the Heat to continue their domination over the Pacer as they have beaten them to the tune of 15 points per game in the last 4 meetings between the teams.
