The St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers will finish their weekend series from Busch Stadium on Sunday. All MLB odds can be found at Bovada sportsbook.
The Cardinals are battling for a wild-card berth, but after their loss on Saturday they just lead those standings by a half game. Jake Westbrook only lasted five innings in his start and the Cardinals will look to Joe Kelly on the mound tonight for a better performance. Kelly is pitching to a 3.54 ERA over 89 innings of work this season and has won three of his last four decisions.
The Brewers will not make the postseason this year, but love to play the role of spoiler especially when they are playing the Cardinals. They scored 6 runs and 15 hits yesterday and received a strong pitching performance from Michael Fiers who earned the win. This afternoon Milwaukee will start Shawn Marcum who has been average since his return from a long stint of the DL. Marcum is pitching to 3.53 ERA in 97 innings of work.
St. Louis is 21-9 in their last 30 home games, 3-8 in their last 11 games overall, and 2-5 in Kelly’s last seven starts a favorite. Milwaukee is 15-4 in their last 19 games overall, 8-3 in their last 11 road games, and 6-14 in Marcum’s last 20 starts. Milwaukee is 9-18 in the last 27 meetings of these two.
This should be a pretty good game, but the Brewers are playing better baseball right now. We will take them as a moneyline underdogs because of that at the sports books.
