St. Louis (31-16) have earned themselves one of the best records in baseball as they sit 15 games above .500 heading in to the second game of the series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cardinals have now won their last three games, including the first game with the Dodgers in LA. In those three games, St. Louis has been pretty dominant against LA and the Padres. The Cards outscored their opponents 22-5 in that three game stretch. In the first game of this series with LA, Lance Lynn pitched six shutout innings in the Cards’ 7-0 win. Lynn only gave up two hits before giving the ball to the relievers, who only gave up one hit in the last three innings.
The Dodgers (19-27) continue to slump and have not really shown signs of getting back on track. They are 2-2 in their last four games but previous to that the Dodgers only won four games this month and have given themselves a 4-12 stretch. Ted Lilly will start on Saturday. Lilly has only made two starts this year and is 0-1 in them so he is also trying to get back on track along with the rest of his team.
The Cardinals are 27-20 against the spread and the Dodgers are just 18-28.
