The Rays (31-25) have quite the record for being fourth in their division. The American League East is absolutely stacked right now and the Rays have to pass three teams in order to win the division. Tampa has been playing well, however, they have won seven of their last eight games, one of their best stretches of their season. In other good news, the Rays have their ace, Matt Moore, on the mound for their next game, on Tuesday. Moore has made 11 starts and has a stellar 8-0 record. Moore’s ERA is 2.18 and the Rays have lost only once when Moore has started, which happens to be 11 times.
Detroit (30-25) is having a decent year and they still lead their division but they are entering this series in a bit of a struggle. The Tigers have won just one of their last six games. Anibal Sanchez had a complete game shutout in which he only gave up one hit, which came in the ninth inning. He has made one start since then, a loss, and looks to get back into his groove on Tuesday.
Tampa is 31-25 against the spread and the Tigers are 26-29.
