The #15 Texas A&M Aggies (7-2) take on the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday at 3:30 ET. College football odds are at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
In their first year of SEC play, the Aggies have done more than hold their own. Granted, they have lost their two marquee matchups so far against Florida and LSU, but they were very respectable in those games losing by a combined 8 points. They are 5-4 ATS this year, 3-2 ATS on the road. Offensively, they do struggle against top defenses. They have scored more than 48 points five times, and more than 30 points per game in all their games except LSU and Florida, failing to crack 20 in either.
Alabama is a juggernaut. They are undefeated, and haven’t let up more than 20 points in any game this year, while never scoring less than 20 in any game either. They are faced with large spreads pretty often, which has contributed to their 5-4 ATS mark this year. To be fair, three of their ATS losses were when they were laying more than 30 points, and just missed the cover.
Alabama is favored by 15 ½ points. This is a tough game to handicap. As good as the Tide have looked, many still believe they are holding back their playbook. LSU played them tight, and Texas A&M played LSU tight, so it is hard to argue that Alabama is clearly in a different level than the Aggies. This game feels a lot like the Michigan game earlier this year, look for the breaks to go the Tide’s way early and for the points to mount. Roll Tide, lay the 15 ½ at the sports book.
