The Toronto Blue Jays travel to New York to begin a series from Yankee Stadium vs. the New York Yankees. All odds for all games can be found at Oddsmaker sportsbook.
The first couple weeks following the All-Star break are critical for the Blue Jays. This series is huge because the Yankees are pulling away from everyone in the AL East including the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays need much more consistency both at the plate and on the mound to make a serious run, and this series would be a great place to get that kick started. Tonight they will send Henderson Alvarez to the mound who is looking to get back in the win column after losing to Kansas City his last time out. Alvarez gave up five runs in five innings of work.
The Yankees are looking more and more like the team to beat not only in their division, but in the American League as a whole. Although they lost on Sunday 10-8 to the Angels and played a sloppy game they have still won six of eight games overall. Expect the pitching to be improved tonight when Phil Hughes takes the mound. The defense cost him in his last start versus the Red Sox and he will be looking to come out with a vengeance tonight.
The Yankees realize the importance of smacking down everyone their division so we do not really see how Alvarez will come in here and get it done tonight. Take the Yankees with the spread at best sports books.
