The Padres look to finish this series with a sweep of the Blue Jays in San Diego. Check the MLB odds at Bovada sportsbook.
Toronto (23-33) has now lost four of their last five games including their last two to the Padres. Both games against San Diego have finished with the final score of 4-3 and the first game of the two went a full 17 innings before the game was finally completed. The Blue Jays outhit the Padres 13-9 but still were only able to score three runs. What hurt them the most was the three errors that made throughout the game. Colby Rasmus was the best performer for the Blue Jays at the plate. Rasmus went 4 for 7, drove in two runs and scored once himself. Rasmus went 2 for 4 in the second game of the series as well. Ramon Ortiz, 1-2, will get the start on Sunday as the Jays look to avoid the sweep.
The Padres (26-29) are now just three games below .500 after winning four of their last five games. Clayton Richard, normally a starting pitcher came in the game that went 17 innings because there was not many pitchers available. Richard received the win, his first of the year, to improve his record to 1-5. Edinson Volquez, 4-5, will start on Sunday for the Padres, who are looking for the sweep of the Jays.
Toronto is 26-30 against the spread and the Padres are 30-25 ATS.
I am going to pick the Blue Jays beat the erratic Volquez at www.sportsbookroom.com.
