The Blue Jays are scorching hot right now, winning 11 in a row and moving to just five games back of the Red Sox for first place in the AL East. All the sudden that is a five team race in that division. Tonight they will throw Rogers who has only started three games for the Blue Jays this season. He has pitched out of the bullpen for a majority of the season. In 35 innings pitched this he enters without a win or loss and a 3.60 ERA. In his last start in Chicago, Rogers surrendered three hits giving up one run while striking out eight. Toronto has won his last two starts, however he has not had a decision so far this year. With the win, Toronto starts a new streak, and improved their road record to 12-19.
The Tampa Bay Rays are coming off a 3-1 victory in New York yesterday. James Loney had a two RBI double in the eighth inning. They are now in last place in the AL East five games back of the Boston Red Sox. They turn to Jeremy Hellickson tonight who is 5-3 with a 5.50 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. He has won three of his last four starts including a victory in Boston. Over six innings of work, he has struck out seven while surrendering two earned runs. In his last home start, however he gave up 10 hits and eight earned runs over 5 2/3 innings.
