A check of the college football odds from this SEC affair and we find the home side South Carolina Gamecocks favored by -13 points with an over under line of 49 ½ points. Those who play on the South Carolina Gamecocks on the money line will lay -480 odds with the return on the road underdog Vanderbilt Commodores at +375 odds on the money line.
South Carolina and Vanderbilt have a history playing under the total as the teams are 4-0 in their past four head to head meetings. Vanderbilt despite good quarterback play the past few seasons has scored no more than 13 points and averaged less than seven points a game against the Gamecocks defense. There is a bit of redemption for this South Carolina team as they get crushed by the good offense of Georgia last week so look for an immediate correction this week in practice with strong emphasis on the defensive side of the football. Over the past few seasons Vanderbilt have produced a strong defense and they too have kept the scoring low from South Carolina in their previous meetings. It seems that Steve Spurrier feels going into games against Vanderbilt that the Commodores offense isn’t dynamic enough to compete with South Carolina so a conservative game plan is all that is needed to get a win in this game. So trying to speed things up and throwing downfield only increases the turnover opportunity for Vanderbilt. If South Carolina can play clean they have more talent to win and it has been evidence the past four meetings. With South Carolina out to redeem and bad defensive effort a week ago I expect Spurrier to focus on running the football and ball control to limit the amount of time for the Gamecocks defense to be on the field.
With our college football pick for Saturday we will play on the Vanderbilt Commodores and South Carolina Gamecocks to play under the total of 49 ½ points but first check out the sports odds.
